Description

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a highly motivated System Engineer to join a team of engineers to participate in the technical development, test, and support on a key program in the Special Intelligence business area. Position will be located in McClellan, CA or San Jose, CA.

The System Engineer is responsible for the following tasks:

  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems
  • Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, development, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
  • Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product software
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
  • Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls
  • Participates in program and customer evaluation of options
  • Conducts and actively participates in peer reviews contributing technical expertise to peers to proactively resolve issues before larger problems emerge
  • Interacts with users and customers

This requisition may be filled at either a level 3 or a level 4.

Basic Qualification for a System Engineer 3 are:

  • A Bachelor Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) from an accredited institution with 5 years of related work experience; 3 years with Masters; 1 years with PhD
  • Software or hardware development lifecycle knowledge
  • Experience developing, planning, and executing comprehensive test plans and procedures
  • Reviewing and evaluating test requirements
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and other Microsoft Office programs
  • Candidate must have an active Top Secret clearance or interim Top Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of System Engineering principles and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process enhancements
  • Coordinating integrated testing activities
  • Performing technical analysis of complete systems and preparing comprehensive system level evaluations
  • Demonstrating successful software and/or hardware to external customers for purposes of acceptance
  • An active Top Secret clearance with SCI and poly

  • A Bachelor Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) from an accredited institution with 9 years of related experience; 7 years with Masters; 4 years with PhD
  • Strong working knowledge of System Engineering principles and practices
  • Software or hardware development lifecycle knowledge
  • Experience developing, planning, and executing comprehensive test plans and procedures
  • Reviewing and evaluating test requirements
  • Demonstrating successful software and/or hardware to external customers for purposes of acceptance
  • Candidate must have an active Top Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
