What You'll get to Do:
Northrop Grumman Marine Systems specializes in the development, manufacturing, assembly, and testing of missile launching and handling systems, propulsion, and power generation systems for naval surface ships and submarines. The Reliability and System Safety Engineering Department ensures reliability and system safety are key considerations throughout the program life cycle starting with design and development through system retirement.
The Systems Engineer we are seeking will be an individual who thrives in a diverse work environment, has outstanding communication skills and possesses a strong sense of engagement and continuous process improvement. The Systems Engineer performs technical planning, requirements development, system integration, verification and validation. Analyses are performed at all levels and include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. The Systems Engineer ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints. Occasional travel is required to support technical reviews, meetings, and working groups. A fundamental knowledge of Reliability Engineering principles and System Safety Program conduct in accordance with MIL-STD-882 are preferred. This would include the capability to perform Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), a solid foundation in statistics including concepts such as Mean Time between failure (MTBF), availability and probability of success. For System Safety, the candidate will be able to identify system hazards and understand the process associated with developing hazard mitigations.

You'll Bring These Qualifications: BS degree in an Engineering Discipline or Physics
At least 5 years of industry experience with a BS degree or at least 3 years of experience with an MS degree
Proficient with MS Office applications
Experience in development/management of: CONOPs, system design, system architecture, and requirements
Working experience with reliability and systems engineering processes and principles, including FMECA, reliability assessment and hazard analysis
Demonstrated sound decision making and good judgments and ability to work well in a team environment
Ability to develop and conduct customer presentations
Ability to thoroughly complete assignments in a timely manner with minimal direction
US citizen with the ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Masters Degree in an Engineering Discipline or Physics, with 5+ years of work experience
* Strong background in statistical principles
Significant hands-on experience with reliability and system safety analysis
Experience with supporting hazardous material management programs
Experience with Navy, military, and/or related Defense systems programs
Working Knowledge of DoD Systems Engineering Principles and Policies
Current/active DoD Secret clearance or higher
