Engineer Systems 2/3

The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Technical Services team on the Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Development and Sustainment Contract (DSC) in support of the Missile Defense Agency. The GMD element is a critical part of our nation's layered Ballistic Missile Defense System providing the U.S. with the capability to engage and intercept long range ballistic missiles during midcourse flight. This position is responsible for supporting system level GMD flight or ground tests in the system laboratories and in the operational field.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supports flight or ground test planning, integration, execution, and analysis and reporting for GMD system level tests
  • Performs or learns to be a GMD Fire Control or GMD Maintenance Monitor operator in the system laboratories and in the operational field
  • Provides interface to the prime GMD contractor, subcontractors, and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) government representatives.
  • Attendsbriefings and technical meetings for test status and issues to upper management and MDA government customers
  • Advises on flight or ground test issues, resolutions, and schedules.
  • Position requires potential travel to Schriever AFB, CO; Vandenberg AFB, CA; or Ft Greeley, AK and other ground test GMD sites
This requisition may be filled at a level 2 or level 3 based on qualifications listed below.
BasicQualifications:

Level 2:
  • 2 years engineering experience with a Bachelorsin engineering (STEM); 0 Years with Masters
  • Systemsengineering or test engineering experience
  • Active Secret Security Clearance required
  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time
Level 3:
  • 5 years engineering experience with Bachelorsin engineering (STEM); 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD
  • Systemsengineering or test engineering experience
  • Active Secret Security Clearance required
  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:

Level 2:
  • Experience in systems or component level test engineering on aweapon or space systems program
  • Experience with system level test in laboratory facility
  • Experience as a system or component operator
  • Good communications and presentation skills

Level 3:
  • Experience in systems or component level test engineering on aweapon or space systems program
  • Experience with system level test in laboratory facility
  • Experience as a system or component operator
  • Some (Linex) programming experience
  • Good communications and presentation skills
