The Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) Systems Engineering, Management and Sustainment III (SEMS III) program is offering an exciting career opportunity for a Systems Engineer 2 to support the Air Force Weather mission at Offutt AFB, Omaha, Nebraska.

The Systems Engineer will be responsible for performing multiple engineering activities including trade studies, project planning, design analyses, operational concept definition, requirements derivation and traceability, cost-benefit and life cycle cost analyses (including Cost-as-an-Independent Variable (CAIV)), risk analyses, performance modeling and simulation, system build plan creations, vendor purchase coordination, system test plans, procedures, objectives, and scenarios development, security engineering analysis, and specialty

Additional Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects and risks within a dynamic environment to include management of staff resources, budget, and overall integrated schedules
  • Evaluate current and future system architectures and defining the evolution of the future Air Force Weather enterprise


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Science, Technical, Electrical, or Math discipline and at least 2 years of experience in Systems Engineering or a related field/life cycle performance or system design.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance
  • Demonstrated ability to perform technical planning and systems integration and a working knowledge of requirements management and analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to perform analysis at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
  • Demonstrated ability to ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
  • Demonstrated ability to perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Linux or UNIX operating systems
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative and adaptive in a dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with customers to document, derive, and develop requirements
  • One of the following systems engineering disciplines:
  • Experience in engineering life cycle
  • Experience with server, storage, database, and networking technologies
  • Software engineering fundamentals and technologies experience
  • System analysis and design experience, to include virtualization technologies
  • Recent security engineering experience to include STIG and NIST familiarity, and Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DoD Information Technology (IT) or its predecessor (DIACAP)
  • Experience with Linux (or Unix, Solaris or AIX) server operating system experience
  • Demonstrated Linux RHEL, RHEV, or VMWare experience
  • Demonstrated experience with Cross Domain Solution Certification and Accreditation and familiar with cyber security practices
  • Familiarity with agile software development processes, especially Scrum and Kanban
  • CMMI®, AS 9100 and ISO 9000 process development experience
  • Previous software engineering or system administration experience
  • Active Top Secret security clearance
