Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Successful candidates for this position will work in a technical role for the National Security Systems (NSS) business area. This position offers the opportunity to work on exciting, cutting-edge programs and new mission areas. The program will be based in NGIS's Dulles VA location and may require some travel. Duties include significant contributions to mission systems engineering activities. This may include system modeling and simulation, mission analysis, mission planning, mission ops support, developing engineering reports from advanced studies, special engineering investigations, systems integration/interfaces, requirements/V&V, and occasional Business Development support and similar activities.
The candidate should be knowledgeable in system-of-systems engineering, space vehicle design and operations, ground segments, segment interfaces, payloads, and/or mission operations. Advanced analyses capability relating to complex mission problems may be required, as is the ability to develop and support home-grown mission analysis tools. The role will include interface with clients, as well as regular interactions with internal engineering associates and program management. Candidate may be called on to assist in new business activities such as conceptual design and analysis for proposals and funded studies, and may include authoring sections for both.
Desired experience should include one or more of the following: mission system requirements, verification/validation planning, mission planning/execution, mission analysis, modeling/simulation, system trade studies, and expertise with various engineering tools such as MATLAB, STK, and similar tools.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 2 years experience.
