Engineer Supplier MA 3 - Quality Field Engineering (Chicago metro area)
Plans, organizes, directs and reports on all supplier quality-related activities to assure fulfillment of contract /purchase order requirements. Assures that customer quality-imposed requirements are adhered to by supplier and that a quality system is maintained. Conducts programs designed to improve supplier performance and productivity through training and coordination of various procurement quality assurance efforts. Prepares, maintains and reviews procurement quality assurance procedures to assure compliance with customer and /or government requirements. Reviews and analyzes corrective action reports and purchase orders in an effort to reduce and eliminate defects. Monitors quality control activities and systems at suppliers and subcontractor facilities and maintains feedback loops. Administers a Certified Suppler Program or related programs in receiving inspection to ensure cost effectiveness and cost avoidance. Audits third
party manufactures, due diligence and vendor selection process.
Bachelor's degree and 5 years related experience; Master's degree and 3 years of experience. Candidate shall have a strong mechanical engineering background in Aerospace products and assemblies. Must be familiar with AS9100 and AS9102, RCCA requirements and tools, and have strong Microsoft office skills. The ability to review and interpret aerospace industry specifications and blueprints (GD&T) is required. A familiarity with model based definition (Catia, Unigraphics etc.) interpretation and interrogation is mandatory. Candidate shall have good communication skills and be able to interact effectively with supplier and customer personnel on a daily basis. The position will require hands on quality inspections of complex aerospace products and assemblies as well as supplier mentoring and oversight. Candidate shall have a working knowledge of all measuring tools and inspection methods, including hand held measuring devices, gauges, test equipment and CMM / Laser trackers. Familiarity with structural assemblies, machined parts, composite products, electronic assemblies and detail components is required. The position will be based at the stated city location and require the candidate to manage a local or regional supplier base through regular travel and onsite visits.
