Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an Engineer Software 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

The selected candidate will develop and implement software to support manufacturing and test in a lab environment supporting various space, aircraft, and ground systems.

Essential Functions:

  • Act as the point of contact for multiple open area test sets, including burn-in and RF test sets
  • Act as the point of contact for oracle database backed data trending/post processing tools
  • Work closely with multiple stakeholders, including test engineers, responsible design engineers, and system engineers
  • Provide timely support on the factory floor to ensure minimal delays in test
  • Provide innovative solutions that decrease test time, decrease data review time, or improve quality of data

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Candidate must be comfortable in a lab environment and be able to collaborate closely with system engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor™s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and9 years of software engineering experience OR
  • Master™s Degree in STEM and7 years of software engineering experience OR
  • PhD Degree in STEM and 4 years of software engineering experience
  • Experience developing software/writing code in C#, Java, or object oriented languages
  • Experience in test equipment control or in high speed ground-based test environments

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor™s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present in front of internal and external customers
  • Experience with developing TEC (Test Executive Core) based test sets
  • Knowledge of spacecraft systems preferred, including the test methodology and instrumentation required to test Power Converter systems
  • Experience with RF or Digital Test Sets
  • Experience with object oriented software development practices
  • Experience with XML
  • Experience leading the development of a common software package that supports the needs of many unique devices and stakeholders
  • Experience mentoring and training junior engineers on software development and domain knowledge strongly preferred
  • Experience working closely with hardware engineers and with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience in database design and SQL
  • Experience with aerospace industry software development practices
