Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an Engineer Software 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

The selected candidate will develop and implement software integration plans in a lab environment supporting various space, aircraft, and ground systems.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain legacy digital chip test sets written in HP Basic
  • Design and develop new digital chip test sets to replace the legacy ones
  • Act as the point of contact for multiple test sets
  • Work closely with multiple stakeholders, including test engineers, responsible design engineers, and system engineers
  • Provide timely support on the factory floor to ensure minimal delays in test
  • Provide innovative solutions that decrease test time, decrease data review time, or improve quality of data

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Candidate must be comfortable in a lab environment and be able to collaborate closely with system engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of software engineering experience; or
  • Master's Degree in STEM discipline and 3 years of software engineering experience; or 0 years experience and a STEM PhD. degree.
  • Experience in Python, C/C++, C#
  • Experience developing and troubleshooting test set software and instrument automation

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with writing code and debugging in HP Basic
  • Experience with C, C++, Python, C#, or Java
  • Experience with XML
  • Experience with RF, Power Converter, or Digital Test Sets
  • Experience working closely with hardware engineers and with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience with aerospace industry software development practices
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present in front of internal and external customers
