Engineer Software 2 / 3

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Software Engineer to join our team of talented, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Orlando, FL.

The qualified applicant will become part of a Northrop Grumman team focused on a variety of mission critical systems involved in the planning, monitoring, and management of military satellite communications. The individual must be comfortable with working in a team-focused, collaborative environment and participate in all tasks relating to software design, implementation, and integration & testing. This position requires a self-starter who is able to self-manage based on what the project team identifies as priorities and flexible enough to succeed in a dynamically changing environment. The applicant must also have excellent communication skills.

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

This requisition may be filled at either a Level 2 or a Level 3

Basic Qualifications for a Level 2:

  • Typical Minimum Education / Experience: 2 Years with Bachelors in Science; 0 Years with Masters / Degree must be in a STEM related degree
  • Must have solid experience in Microsoft Windows.
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Must possess good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to support occasional travel.
  • US Citizenship is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security clearance and be able to achieve Tier 1/2 access for SAP/SAR program
  • Active DoD 8570 Certification or willingness to obtain within a year of starting (e.g., CISSP)

  • Typical Minimum Education / Experience: 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD. / Degree must be in a STEM related degree
  • Must have solid experience in Microsoft Windows.
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Must possess good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to support occasional travel.
  • US Citizenship is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security clearance and be able to achieve Tier 1/2 access for SAP/SAR program
  • Active DoD 8570 Certification or willingness to obtain within a year of starting (e.g., CISSP)

Preferred Qualifications for Level 2 & 3:

  • Strong Java development skills
  • Experience with java development technologies (Maven, Gradle, Junit, intellij)
  • Experience with enterprise development tools (Git, Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins)
  • Experience with computer networking, networking protocols and the OSI model
  • Strong understanding of Test Driven Development and AGILE methodology
  • Understanding of secure software development processes, methodologies and tools
  • Flexibility to multi-task in a fast-paced environment supporting multiple customers in different domains concurrently with travel required
  • Strong understanding of computer architecture and software development skills including design patterns, threading/concurrency, resource pooling, memory management, defensive programming and socket I/O development
  • Developing external interfaces in compliance with Interface Control Documents such as IETF RFCs for network protocols
  • Java, C/C , XML and related technologies and automated tools for continuous integration
