Engineer RF Microwave Design 3

Northrop Grumman Technical Services, Airborne Systems Integration Center seeks a Radio Frequency (RF) engineer to serve within our electrical engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in RF engineering and will be providing RF expertise during the design, integration, testing, and certification of avionics upgrades and payloads aboard aircraft solutions to include SIGINT payloads, radars, electro-optical systems, communications systems and survivability equipment. The individual must have the technical skills to perform hardware development and proof of concept demonstrations including RF printed circuit board design, discrete component and coax cable level prototypes, integration of commercial transceivers, and system testing. The candidate will research, investigate, and experiment with new RF technologies such as millimeter-wave systems, digital phased-array, coherent distributed systems, efficient power amplifiers, and non-linear mitigation techniques. The aspirant should be able to work in a multi-disciplinary team to investigate new hardware concepts and tradeoffs in relation to associated algorithms and applications. The candidate will support technology and business development activities, proposals (including schedules and cost estimates), design reviews, and certification activities.
Basic Qualifications:
* Must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance or higher
* B.S. degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent, plus a minimum of five (5) years in RF hardware development/engineering or related engineering experience
* Ability to design or modify RF printed circuit board, discrete component and coax cable level prototypes, and integration of commercial transceivers
* Experience with requirements analysis, RF system architecture, RF hardware design, simulation, evaluation, maintenance, support, testing and problem diagnosis
* Experience with microwave measurement equipment such as vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, arbitrary waveform generators, oscilloscopes, and signal analyzers
* Experience with EMI/EMC prevention within aircraft
* Past experience in developing RF modification and installation work instructions, procedures and recommendations
* Ability to demonstrate clear verbal and written communication skills and work well in a team environment
* Ability to travel infrequently for business, CONUS

Preferred Qualifications:
* Former domain experience with military operations, military intelligence, ISR aircraft, UAS and/or US Special Forces
* Experience or willing to learn RF simulation tools
* Experience with SIGINT/COMMS signal processing
* Knowledge and understanding of FAA 14 CFR Part 23 & Part 25 aircraft certifications requirements and the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) process is highly preferred
* Multidisciplinary experience to include avionics and systems engineering
* Existing Secret Clearance or higher with work experience on restricted programs is highly preferred
* Ability/interest to occasionally travel to forward deployed, high risk areas for short term test and system fielding projects (1-4 weeks)${descr2}${descr3}
