Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking an Engineer Mission Assurance 3 to join our team of qualified individuals in Huntsville, AL.

Build a future of excellence and become part of NG's Mission Assurance team, providing services for Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Development and Sustainment Contract (DSC).

Qualified candidates must work as part of a team, demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, possess the ability to plan ahead and be customer- support focused. Individuals must also have demonstrated ability to evaluate whether documents, instructions and procedures are being followed during execution and demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support development and operations to ensure Ground Systems is fully mission capable 24/7/365
  • Supports the Business Acquisition Process by participating in proposal reviews, assessing program start-up readiness, and providing status of proposal activities.
  • Implement MA engagement strategies across the program life-cycle from supporting new business pursuits to supporting fielded systems.
  • Review, analyze and report on quality discrepancies related to SW/HW, installations/upgrade, system testing, for NG Ground Systems products and operational capabilities
  • Provides independent technical and programmatic subject matter expertise, in any program phase, to provide guidance, resolve technical issues, and mitigate risks.
  • Investigate problems and develop disposition and correcting actions for recurring discrepancies
  • Interface with product development, engineering, testers, customers, vendors and subcontractors and team members to ensure requirements are achieve
  • Capable of credibly engaging with program leadership on complex technical and program life cycle issues.
  • Contributes to program planning, concept development, mission suitability analysis, trade studies, functional analysis, timeline analysis, translation of customer requirements into hardware and software specifications, design, fabrication, test, root cause analysis, verification and validation, installation, operation, maintenance, and supportability and effectiveness analyses.
  • Implement and enforce techniques and control systems to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Develop, modify, apply and maintain evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials.
  • Collaborate with customers, supply chain, program management, contracts, engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place and maintained.

Travel: position will require travel between two sites within the same geographic area. Other business travel will be minimal, but may be required on occasion up to 25%.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related STEM technical field.
  • 5+ years relevant experience in quality, engineering or manufacturing.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Project Management Exposure
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Are you able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance? (US Citizenship required)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Software AGILE development understanding
  • JAVA, C++. LINUX familiarity
  • Missile defense, GMD, DoD program experience
