Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer Hardware IPT Lead to join our team of motivated, innovative individuals. This individual leads a small team of engineers to design and fabricate hardware in support of the development and testing of our next generation underwater missile launchers. The ideal candidate brings leadership skills, project management and strong mechanical design and manufacturing experience to the table.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Generate task plans and support proposal efforts
  • Lead a small group of engineers to execute established plans
  • Conduct trade studies to select and evaluate best design approaches to fulfill requirements
  • Conduct first order structural and kinematic analysis to support equipment design
  • Oversee the generation of engineering drawings using common GD&T practices
  • Identify procurement needs and support fabrication
Some travel to test sites will be required (10%).

This requisition may be filled at a level 3 or level 4 based on qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications for a Level 3:
  • Bachelors degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 5+ years of relevant work experience, or Masters degree in a STEM discipline with 3+ years relevant work experience
  • 2+ years of experience with mechanical design and GD&T
  • Experience planning tasks and executing to the established schedule
  • Experience leading a small team
  • Secret clearance active in the past2 years
Basic Qualifications for a Level 4:
  • Bachelors degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 9+ years of relevant work experience, or Masters degree in a STEM discipline with 7+ years relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of experience with mechanical design and GD&T
  • Experience planning tasks and executing to the established schedule
  • Experience leading a small team
  • Secret clearance active in the past2 years
