Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.

This position supports mechanical design of missile launcher systems and the components, and test equipment that is needed to support development and testing of next generation submarine missile launchers.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Conduct trade studies to select and evaluate best design approaches to fulfill requirements
  • Conduct first order structural and kinematic analysis to support equipment design
  • Oversee the generation of engineering drawings using common GD&T practices
  • Identify procurement needs and support fabrication
  • Provide assembly checkout and test support
  • Generate task plans and support proposal efforts

The qualified candidate will possess the following skills:
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Some travel to test sites will be required.

This requisition may be filled at either a level 2 or a level 3 based on qualifications listed below.

SNYVLCA

Basic Qualifications for a Level 2:
  • Solid background in machine design and drawing generation
  • Ability to plan tasks and execute to the established schedule
  • Secret security clearance active in the past 2 years
  • Bachelors degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 2 years relevant work experience, or Masters degree in a STEM discipline with0+ years of experience

Basic Qualifications for a Level 3:
  • Solid background in machine design and drawing generation
  • Ability to plan tasks and execute to the established schedule
  • Secret security clearance active in the past 2 years
  • Bachelors degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 5+ years relevant work experience, or Masters degree in a STEM discipline with 3+ years relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge in GD&T and solid modeling NX${descr2}${descr3}
