Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Materials and Process Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA with in the Palmdale Aircraft Integration Center of Excellence (PAICoE) organization.
The selected candidate will be responsible for analyzing, researching, and developing advance materials such as composites and their related application processes for use in design of structures, systems and subsystems of Aerospace platforms. The candidate will apply principles of chemistry, physics, and materialscience to investigate material issues and provide solutions.
Thecandidate willwork in a team environment with other engineering organizationand performdetailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications and manufacturing plans. The candidate will step in as theleadof the M&P team, and provide guidance while delegating the technicaltask andoverseeing the technical work. The successful candidate should have good familiarity with aerospace composite prepregs, honeycomb and adhesive materials; fabrication, assembly and repair processes for aerospace composite structures; excellent written and oral presentation skills; be team oriented and have problem solving analytical skills.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree OR higher in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or other STEM discipline.
- Minimum of 9 years of relevant experience with a BS, 7 years with a MS or 4 years with a PhD.
- Experience working with pre-pregs, honeycombs, and adhesive materials; Fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for aircraft composite structures.
- Experience leading engineering projects
- Current Active In-Scope DoD Secret

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science Degree or other STEM degree
- The ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
