Engineer Electromechanical Analyst 2

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems sector is seeking an Electromechanical Engineer 2 to join our team of creative and diverse engineers. The position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.
The selected candidate will perform dynamic & structural analyses and provide design input to fellow team members on electronics hardware in support of space and airborne based electronics boxes in Product Engineering.The analyst will also provide technical assistance to senior analysts on new and on-going hardware development as part of an integrated design team, performing detailed FEA and classical hand calculations involving random vibration analysis, fatigue analysis, thermal cycling assessments, shock assessment.

The analyst will be responsible for verifying that designs meet the program's structural requirements and will interact with engineers across multiple disciplines to meet that objective. The successful candidate must competently distill complicated assemblies into feasible problems for trade studies with other mechanical engineers and be able to articulate their results clearly in customer reviews and internal design reviews as well as in thorough documentation.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degreein Mechanical Engineering, or related STEMdiscipline with 2 years of engineering experience; or
  • STEM Master's degree with 0 years experience
  • Demonstrated recent work experience in electronics structural analyses.
  • Previous professional experience with finite element software (Abaqus or Nastran) is required.

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
  • Previous experience with electronics hardware, space or avionics environmental requirements, thermal stress and fatigue analyses are preferred.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, skillful technical communication skills and strong academic technical background are highly desired.
  • Candidates currently possessing an active SSBI security clearance or who meet the requirements for obtaining such a clearance are also preferred.
