Engineer Electromechanical 4

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) sector is seeking a Senior Engineer with technical knowledge of the design of airborne systems and payload support structures for air vehicles and ground stations, to join the 5th to 4th program. This is a position based out of the Spectrum Center campus in San Diego, CA.

The selected candidate will work as the Hardware Engineering Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead responsible for Program goals and objectives. The Hardware IPT Lead is responsible for:
1) Oversight of the hardware engineering technical team.
2) Hardware design
3) Support of Project Engineering (PE) and various IPTs (i.e. integration, test, logistics and field)
4) Support of systems comprised of RF, analog and digital hardware and software
5) Budgetary staff planning and schedule development of all hardware engineering tasks.
6) Planning tasks and executing on time using resources assigned.
7) Acts as advisor on advanced concepts for the Hardware team and advises management and customers on advanced technical studies, applications, and develops advanced technological ideas guiding there development to a final product.
8) Developing and defending proposals, including evaluating contractor and subcontractor proposals for air frames, airborne platforms, and related components.
9) Strong knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) is a plus in planning, monitoring, and reporting hardware engineering activities.

The selected candidate will oversee technical planning, definition of hardware requirements, hardware design and analysis, make-buy decisions, cost, schedule, and risk analysis. Analyze the hardware system architecture with attention to integration concerns, product life cycle, and obsolescence. The candidate will work directly with program leadership and will be responsible for leading the execution of the hardware design.

Basic Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
Typical Minimum Education / Experience: BS - Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and 9 years of experience; 7 years with a Masters and 4 years with a PHD.
SolidWorks CAD 3D design plus full detail drawings, 5+ years of full time experience.
Candidate should have excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, both internal and with government customers.
Flexibility and a strong team collaborator.
Experience in a technical leadership role with a variety of projects
Proficient in personal computing skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:
Active/current Secret Clearance
EVMS proficient is a plus
Five (5)+ years hardware design, production, and analysis experience.
Experience in a variety of manned and unmanned airborne systems
Experience with airborne communications systems, including payload designs, equipment and operations and ground equipment.
