Engineer Electrical 4 (Electromagnetic Interference/Compatibility)

Working in Northrop Grumman Mission Systems means making a direct contribution to mission projects that keep our homeland safe, expanding the boundaries of possibility and reshaping the world we live in.

We are looking for a mid-level electrical engineer, located in our Woodland Hills, CA office, who is experienced in hardware design and design analysis for Electromagnetic Interference/Compatibility (EMI/EMC) compliance. The selected candidate will perform system level decomposition of EMI/EMC requirements, will develop EMI/EMC design requirements at sub-system level, will perform design analysis to verify compliance, and support hardware design engineering to ensure compliance with EMI/EMC requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 9 years related experience, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and 7 years related experience or a PhD in Electrical Engineering and 4 years related experience.
  • Hardware design experience for EMI/EMC compliance
  • Expertise in MIL-STD 461 and MIL-STD 464 and DO-160
  • Technical ability to support decomposition of System level EMI/EMC requirements to sub-assembly level.
  • Technical ability to perform risk assessment with respect to compliance with EMI/EMC requirements.
  • Technical ability to perform EMI/EMC design and analysis at both system and hardware levels
  • Technical ability to develop, document, and maintain EMI/EMC requirements at sub-system level
  • Design experience with EMI Filters and Lighting protection
  • Experience with Cable design
  • Experience with modeling and simulation using SPICE

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in using CST CAE tools
  • Working knowledge of Signal Integrity, working knowledge in using Cadence Signal Integrity analysis tool
  • Understanding of sub-system and system level EMI/EMC test
