Engineer Electrical

The Electrical Engineering Group in the Northrop Grumman's Space Technical Services Business Unit, is seeking an experienced Harness Engineer to perform detailed Flight/GSE (Ground Support Equipment) Harness Designs, including part selection, electrical schematic capture, and working with CAD personnel to develop Harness Assembly drawings.
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification/validation, and cost analysis for total harness design.

Lead development of total harness product to include: concept, detailed design, fabrication & test support, installation support, and support of programmatic activities.

Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total harness solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

Candidate will work in the Northrop Grumman's Space Technical Services Business Unit at Beltsville, Md supporting various flight and ground systems programs. Candidates may be required to work on-site at Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD.


Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelors of Science degree and 5 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree and 3 years of experience.

Experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of total harness designs.

Experience in the design and documentation of cable harnesses.

Familiar with NASA specs.

Ability to assess design requirements to generate harness designs as well as developing and maintaining requirements and technical documentation.

Must have experience working with program requirements, equipment performance specs, wire connection lists, schematics, wire gauge sizing, connector selection and related cabling, harnessing documentation, and grounding schemes

Knowledge of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) considerations with respect to electrical design

Able to prioritize, execute and delegate tasks in a high-pressure, dynamic environment.

Support/participate in design reviews (PDR, CDR, etc.), as a presenter.

Must be familiar with Windows and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Must have OrCAD, AutoCAD, PSpice, and Visio software experience

Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.

Must be a team player able to work closely with support personnel during the design and verification process.

Experience with NASA specifications for the development of cable harnesses is a plus but not required.
