Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for aEngineer Design 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Manhattan Beach, CA.

The candidate will lead verification efforts for an experimental Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) mission data processing unit to be delivered to a Government customer (AFRL) by the end of August 2018. The On-Orbit Reprogrammable Digital Waveform Generator (ORDWG) unit generates ICD-compliant GPS signals while providing the versatility and re-programmability to support emerging PNT requirements and scientific experiments after launch. Major verification areas for the ORDWG unit include RF signal quality, PNT ranging code correctness, civil/military navigation message generation, Control Segment communication, code/waveform flexibility, security of configuration updates, GPS receiver interoperability, and geo-location with an emulated constellation. The candidate may also have the opportunity to provide test support to AFRL for up to a year after unit delivery, including on-site at the location of the Government test bed in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The candidate will:
Lead the execution of the ORDWG unit test plan
Create test vectors to drive the ORDWG unit hardware/software and Test Set
Define and/or develop scripts, tools, and processes to automate test case execution and post-processing of collected data
Coordinate with hardware, software, system, and Test Set engineers to facilitate troubleshooting and review/analysis/validation of test results
Track testing progress and document anomalies/status
Support generation of the final test report for AFRL

Basic Qualifications:
BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other applicable STEM discipline, with 2 years of experience; or 0 years experience with a STEM Master's degree
Experience in verification of functional requirements for a communications or related data processing mission
Proficiency with MATLAB, Java software, Python scripting, Microsoft Excel spreadsheet analysis, and GUI development
Experience using laboratory instruments for signals verification, including oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, and logic analyzer
Strong organizational and verbal/written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with GPS concepts, including navigation messages, ranging codes, waveforms, and/or receiver algorithms
Laboratory experience testing GPS waveforms, including familiarity with JAVAD DELTA-3 or other commercial GPS receivers, and/or Spirent GSS9000 multi-GNSS constellation emulator or similar
Expertise in one or more of the following: digital signal processing, RISC processor architecture and programming, embedded software
