Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Component Engineer2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Manhattan Beach, CA

This is a component engineer position with a preferred background in Electrical, Electronic, & Electro-Mechanical (EEE) parts, reporting to the Space Electronics Parts section. Create specifications to procure space level parts as required. Specification performance requirements created using inputs from using engineers, recommendations from manufacturers and based on component engineering experience. Review changes to existing specifications such as design changes, materials and processes changes. Screening requirements created using Program documentation flow down requirements as specified in Statement of Work, Program Parts Materials and Processes Plans (PM&P), department standards and military standards. Direct and assist component selection utilizing program and department section lists, minimize redundant part creation, drive standardization, introduce, review, and qualify new technologies. Support Global Supply Chain (GSC) as required for various vendor issues. Support Parts Approval Worksheets (PAWS), Non Standard Parts (NSPAR) documentation, and Engineering Central requests. Supports Alert board in creating Alerts and Information Bulletins (IB) dispositioning GIDEPS and other industry problem notifications. For various projects, review and disposition failures and other discrepancies such as Destructive Physical Analysis) DPA issues, Qualifications, Failure Analysis at all levels from procurement to on orbit issues. Will be able to provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex difficult problems but at the same time know when and where to go for help. Candidate will have strong communication skills and be able to produce well-organized reports. The preferred candidate will have a BS and MS in Engineering.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of2 years of engineering experience in an aerospace environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution and3 years of engineering experience in an aerospace environment or Masters of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution and 1 year of engineering experience in an aerospace environment.
    Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
