Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an exciting career opportunity for an apprentice Entry Level Electronics Technician to work at our Grand Sky Autonomous Capabilities Center located in Emerado, ND just minutes west of Grand Forks, ND. The selected candidate will be joining the Systems Integration & Test Engineering (SIT&E) team at the Grand Sky facility, and will complete On-the-Job training in parallel with completing a related curriculum (Simulation Technician) through Lake Region Community College (Devils Lake, ND).

Position Description:
Under close supervision, the Apprentice Electronics Technician performs routine technical functions related to the support of development engineering activities such as design, test, checkout, fabrication, modification, configuration, integration, or assembly of electronics or electro-mechanical systems, prototype models, or specialized test equipment. Applications may include analog, digital and/or video type circuits and logic systems. Guidance is readily available from senior level technicians or supervisors.
Acceptance into the Simulation Technician degree program (a Department of Labor registered Apprentice program) at Lake Region Community College (Devils Lake ND) is a condition of an employment offer, and maintaining an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher (academic transcripts must be provided at the end of each semester to your NG manager) is required. This academic program is eligible for Northrop Grumman's employee educational assistance program.

Essential Duties:
  • Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform routine testing, checkout, troubleshooting, prototype building, software configuration, and simple development engineering tasks.
  • Performs routine operational tests and fault isolation on development systems and equipment to ensure conformance with design specifications.
  • Diagnoses and isolates malfunctions down to component level and conducts defined engineering tests and collects data as assigned.
  • Utilizes routine development or diagnostic equipment including oscilloscope, VOM, DBM, signal generators and similar test apparatus.
  • Principally assigned to support mission engineering, ground test, or operational ground segment laboratories with crew interfaces and displays, radio frequency systems, video collection/distribution systems, modeling and simulation software, closed loop simulators, networking systems, and related components and subsystems.

Basic Qualifications:
  • A completed High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to be accepted and/or enrolled in Lake Region Community College (Devils Lake ND) pursuing an AAS Simulation Technician Degree.
  • Maintain an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher (academic transcripts must be provided at the end of each semester to your NG manager)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • An active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.
