ELECTRICIAN A

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Maintain and repair shop and office electrical lighting and outlets and perform preventive maintenance on batteries, electric motors, and low and medium voltage equipment. Work under the direction of a Journeyman Electrician in support of facility maintenance requirements.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:

Insulated pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers,etc. Voltage tester, cable pulling equipment, battery tester equipment, ladder, safety belt, glasses, padlocks, hard hat, lamp changing equipment,etc.

MATERIAL:

Light bulbs, ballasts, light fixtures,switches,receptacles, sockets, tape, wire, cable, distilled water, various electrical replacement parts,etc.

WORKING PROCEDURE:

THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR JOB DUTIES BUT THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT,NOR THE QUESTIONBEING RAISED ON THE PROPERRATE OF PAY FOR THE ASSIGNMENT.

Perform the duties of-an Electrical Maintenance Specialist and in addition perform the following:

  • Receive work assignment from supervision.
  • Read and follow safety standards, specifications and work authorizations.
  • Remove, replace, and properly dispose of various types of starters, ballasts, fixtures, sockets, receptacles and switches.
  • Perform preventive maintenance as directed.
  • Work with limited supervision on low and medium voltage equipment.
  • Maintain tools, equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Make proper time charge entries and record data as required
  • Perform other work of equal or lower classifications as required
  • Complete assigned training and examinations requirements within scheduled period

Basic Qualifications:

Ability to read and interpret schematics/blue prints

High School diploma/GED

Pass Electrician skills test

Trade School certification or equivalent experience in the trade

Preferred Qualifications:
