Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is currently seeking an Electrical Facilities Engineer 2 / Principal Electrical Facilities Engineer 3 to join our team in Rocket Center, West Virginia just outside of Cumberland, Maryland.

The Allegany Ballistics Laboratory (ABL) site in Rocket Center, designs, develops and manufactures tactical rocket motors, medium caliber ammunition, composite components and end items, and fuze and electronics equipment. For decades, the dedicated and highly skilled team at ABL has supported national security efforts by developing and building defense systems for DoD customers and U.S. allies.

Job Summary:

Provides project management, electrical design and maintenance support services for new and modification of existing buildings and process control facilities. Gathers and reviews data concerning facility or equipment specifications, company or government restrictions, required completion date, and construction feasibility. Coordinates with architectural, mechanical and production process control disciplines for development of design criteria and preparation of layout and detail drawings. Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition. Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs. Inspects or directs the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.

This position supports the engineering design for facilities projects to include electrical controls, power distribution and coordination, telecommunications, life safety and security systems, equipment installation, infrastructure improvements and production area renovations. It also supports coordination between engineering design and construction document preparation.
Other responsibilities include:

  • Developing and tracking budgets and schedules
  • Managing projects to meet budget and schedule requirements
  • Function as primary interface with contractors
  • Technical specifications and requirements documentation


Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a Electrical Facilities Engineer 2 or Principal Electrical Facilities Engineer 3

Basic Qualifications Electrical Facilities Engineer 2:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 2 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or 0 years of experience with a Master's degree
  • 2 years of related facilities electrical experience
  • Competent in the use of electrical engineering and CAD software
  • Strong understanding of electrical processes
  • Able to problem solve and troubleshoot
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance; U.S. Citizenship is a prerequisite


Basic Qualifications Principal Electrical Facilities Engineer 3:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or 3 years of experience with a Master's degree or 0 years of experience with a PhD
  • 5 years of related facilities electrical experience
  • Competent in the use of electrical engineering and CAD software
  • Strong understanding of electrical processes
  • Able to problem solve and troubleshoot
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance; U.S. Citizenship is a prerequisite


Preferred Qualifications:
  • EIT (Engineering In-Training) certification
  • PE (Professional Engineer) certification
  • Exposure with working on DoD facilities

This position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for this location. Candidates hired into this role will be required to complete and submit an Employee Possessor Questionnaire to ATF for approval to be a possessor.
