Drafter Cable & Harnesses

Job Summary/Responsibilities:
The Electrical Engineering Group in the Northrop Grumman's Space Technical Services Business Unit, is seeking an experienced Drafter to perform detailed Flight/GSE (Ground Support Equipment) Assembly drawings.

  • Draws/revises detailed Harness Assembly drawings and installation engineering drawings from basic inputs from Harness Engineering team.
  • Create drawings of simple assemblies such as panels and chassis from general instructions and sketches from the engineering team.

Candidate will work in the Northrop Grumman's Space Technical Services Business Unit at Beltsville, Maryland supporting various flight and ground systems programs. Candidates may be required to work on-site at Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD.

Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent experience is required.
  • Graduate of a CAD/Drafting/Design/Computer Aided program or equivalent AutoCAD experience is required.
  • Must be proficient with AutoCAD.
  • Must have knowledge of Design and Drafting practice and procedures.
  • Create detailed assembly drawings of harnesses from general instructions from Harness Engineering team. Determine from the general instructions those details required and identify/obtain additional information as required from the engineering team.
  • Create drawings of simple assemblies such as panels and chassis from general instructions and sketches from the engineering team.
  • Make changes on electrical and mechanical drawings according to change notice or general instructions.
  • Obtain information for drawings from drawing systems manual, standard books, engineering reference handbooks, material, and process specifications supplier catalogs, etc.
  • Interpret simple drawings including customer and vendor drawings to obtain information relative to assignment.
  • Must be familiar with Windows and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Must be a team player able to work closely with support personnel during the design and verification process.
  • Experience with NASA specifications for the development of cable harnesses is a plus but not required.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
