Dir. Maritime Systems and Integration (MSI) Strategic Growth

The Director of Maritime Systems and Integration (MSI) Strategic Growth will be responsible for the development and implementation of MSI strategic planning, investment planning, market assessment, competitive assessment, opportunity pursuits, pipeline management, and customer engagement. The successful candidate will work closely with all of the Maritime/Land Systems and Sensors (MLSS) Business Units as well as other Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) Divisions to develop maritime and multi-domain solutions to meet customer capability needs. The Director of MSI Strategic Growth will have shared responsibility for developing the MSI Long Range Strategic and Annual Operating Plans, and for creating, cultivating and capturing a pipeline of business opportunities to support those plans.
This position will report to the Director, Strategic Growth for the MLSS Division and will principally work with and support the Vice President, Maritime Systems and Integration for the Business Unit's strategic growth. This position will be responsible for activities and Strategic Growth department personnel at all Maritime Systems locations (primarily: Charlottesville, VA, Sykesville, MD, Ocean Springs, MS, Bethpage, NY, Baltimore, MD, San Diego, CA) and could include significant travel. The position requires familiarity and relationship management with MSI customer base including General Dynamics; Huntington Ingalls Industries; Industry partners and competitors; and Bechtel Plant Machinery Incorporated. The candidate must also have extensive contacts and knowledge within the Department of Defense including OPNAV, OSD, PEO(IWS), PEO(SHIPS), PEO(USC), PEO(C4I), NAVSEA, and NIPO..
• Long-range strategy development and investment planning
• DoD budget analysis
• Leading the annual strategic planning process
. Significantly contribute to the Division's pursuit campaigns
• Lead the Business Unit's internal investment execution process
• Identify and target new business markets and partnerships to create value growth
• Achieving acquisition and sales goals
• Manage the business acquisition processes (BAP) within MSI
• Identify new business opportunities and adjacencies
• Plan and build sustained customer relationships
• Develop and implement internal and external communication plans
• Interface to sector and corporate business development and strategy organizations
• Develop and implement trade show activities
Travel: be willing to travel up to 50% of the time
Location: The candidate can be based in the Northern VA or MD area, but a significant amount of time will be required at Northrop Grumman MSI headquarters in Linthicum, MD.
Basic Qualifications :
Successful candidates will possess 10 years relevant experience with a thorough knowledge/understanding of business development and strategic planning processes as well as DOD and US Navy requirements and programs
Proven ability to establish and maintain highly effective internal and external relationships.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required - including the ability to present and articulate issues, strategies and solutions to senior customers and Northrop's senior management team.
Working knowledge the Navy requirements development, budgeting and acquisition process.
Understanding of the Congressional budgeting cycle and OPNAV / OSD organizations.
Understanding of operational employment of key weapons system used by the United States Navy.
Broad network of key officers in the Navy.
Bachelor's degree is required and the candidate must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.

A Technical Bachelor's degree
Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance with access to Special Compartmented Information (TS-SCI)
