Dir Business Development 2

The Navigation and Maritime Systems Division (N&MSD) is seeking a Director of Business Development. As a member of the division leadership team, this individual identifies and implements business development projects relating to new products and/or industries, technologies, or services. Identifies markets, licensing opportunities, and determines the feasibility of product development. Performs economic analyses on new or improved product opportunities and/or business models and coordinates with internal departments in identifying/implementing business development projects. May work with sales, marketing and potential customers to determine their needs. Creates multi-domain solutions to solve customer problems by working across the sector as well as across Northrop Grumman. Develops and disseminates information on a continuous basis to all pertinent parties concerning the fulfillment of project goals and objectives.

The business development director will be responsible for the growth of the Division's pipeline and will promote collaboration across the division and the sector in order to achieve synergies and profitable growth. The successful applicant for this position will lead a team that has responsibility for key domestic and international business development efforts across all phases of the business acquisition process and must be sufficiently self-motivated to create new business thrusts in support of the division's strategic objectives.

This role leads a geographically dispersed team that provides support to all of the Business and Operating Units within the division.

This position will based primarily in Baltimore, MD, however can be located in Northern Virginia.
Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 10 years hands-on experience in Business Development, Strategic Capture, or Program Management
  • A proven track record of sustained business growth with large government programs across a broad range of customers and contract vehicles
  • At least 10 years of Defense experience and strong customer domain knowledge
  • Knowledge of the Department of Defense acquisition process, export, and policy governing sales of defense equipment internationally
  • Thorough knowledge of government procurement and business development process (identification, qualification, capture and bid activities).
  • Proven ability to develop and implement creative strategies to win bids
  • Ability to select and resource priority captures to drive awards growth at or above market growth
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills including the ability to generate written material to communicate to customers at all levels, including senior executives
  • Experience leading teams and managing budgets
  • US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a technical, management or financial area
  • At least 10 years hands-on experience in Business Development, Strategic Capture, or Program Management
  • A proven track record of sustained business growth with large government programs across a broad range of customers and contract vehicles
  • At least 10 years of Defense experience and strong customer domain knowledge in Naval Nuclear Propulsion programs, submarine and surface naval programs and Navy Special Defense. Prior military experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of the Department of Defense acquisition processes, export, and policy governing sales of defense equipment internationally
  • Thorough knowledge of government procurement and business development process (identification, qualification, capture and bid activities).
  • Proven ability to develop and implement creative strategies to win bids
  • Ability to select and resource priority captures to drive awards growth at or above market growth. Experience with Workbench and capture management a plus.
  • A programmatic and technical understanding of multi-domain command and control systems
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills including the ability to generate written material to communicate to customers at all levels, including senior executives
  • Experience leading teams and managing budgets
  • US Citizen with an active TS/SCI clearance
