Digital Design Engineer 2/3

Working in Northrop Grumman Mission Systems means making a direct contribution to mission projects that protect our homeland, expand the boundaries of possibility and reshape the world in which we live. We are seeking a Development Engineer to join our team of highly qualified and diverse Digital Design Engineers located in

Woodland Hills, CA.

This Digital Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, development and real-time verification of hardware/firmware components and related computing systems for an existing development program. The candidate will possess strong communication skills as he or she will interface with our development program leads, senior scientists, engineering and manufacturing organizations throughout the program lifecycle. The individual will also have technical foresight to integrate the appropriate requirements, processes, procedures and tools as this development program will lead to the future generation of navigation, video & cockpit products.

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

This requisition may be filled at either a level 2 or a level 3.

Basic Qualifications:

The basic requirements for a level 2 are a Bachelor's or related STEM degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree or related STEM degree and 0 years' experience.

The basic requirements for a level 3 are a Bachelor's or related STEM degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, a Master's or related STEM degree and 3 years of relevant experience, or a PhD or related STEM degree and 0 years' experience.

Additional qualifications for both levels are:

  • High Speed Digital Design; FPGA, uP, and memory design experience
  • VHDL test bench development, and V&V processes
  • Familiarity with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) such as VxWorks or Green Hills/Integrity.
  • Communication, team building and facilitation skills; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with team, upper management and customers.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following:
  • Git version control
  • GPS
  • Software defined receivers
  • VHDL/Verilog
  • Xilinx Tool flow (Plan Ahead or Vivado)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • VHDL/Verilog experience
  • Digital Signal Processing design and verification experience
  • Computer Architecture knowledge (bus standards, interrupts, memory)
