Roles and Responsibilities:
The Database Administrator's role is to implement and maintain smooth operation and physical design of databases. Responsibilities will also include performance tuning of indexes and databases in general. This individual will review database design and integration of systems for a multi-year effort of new development and maintenance changes within a large scale system. In addition, the Database Administrator provides technical leadership for the NG team from a tactical decision perspective, to the project planning, to generation of proof of concept through hands on development. This person will also assist in implementing IT policies, procedures, and best practices.

Design and implement long-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining client systems and database
Ensure that proposed and existing systems architectures are aligned with Client goals and objectives
Provide architectural expertise, direction, and assistance to the software development team
Develop, document, and communicate plans for investing in systems architecture, including analysis of cost opportunities
Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of systems development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and systems flexibility
Design, develop, and oversee implementation of end-to-end integrated systems
Review new and existing systems design projects and procurement or outsourcing plans for compliance with standards and architectural plans best practices
Develop, document, communicate, and enforce a policy for standardizing systems and software as necessary

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field with a minimum of 6 years of experience
4 years of experience in developing systems and software architectures
Experience in Database Administration in an RDBMS environment.
Experience in operational setup (installation, deployment, configuration) of ESB (or similar) toolsets.
Strong Knowledge of Agile and related tracking tools e.g. CA Agile Central
Experience with development/database tools e.g. Eclipse, SQLDeveloper
Hands-on experience with business requirements gathering/analysis, OOA&D
Strong understanding of information processing principles and best practices (Business Architecture)
Strong knowledge of software evaluation principles and practices
Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
Excellent architecture and technical support documentation skills
Ability to conduct research into emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products as required
Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Knowledge of using UML tools and the ability to train staff on using the tools
Knowledge of Release Management, CVS
Must be a US Citizen or a Green Card Holder

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of RI UHIP culture, mission, and IT environment.
Experience with CI/CD processes and DevSecOps
Strong interpersonal and consultative skills
Proven project planning experience
