This position will be located in Providence, Rhode Island.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The qualified applicant will be involved in all phases of software development life cycle (SDLC), from requirements gathering, analysis and design, development, testing, implementation, and production support. In addition to performing software development, the Developer will be will be involved in technical design, database development, documentation, interfacing with other development efforts, and implementations.
Implements and maintains smooth operation and physical design of databases.
SQL Development ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code and design (stored procedures, functions, tables, views, indexes and constraints)
Conducts performance tuning of indexes and databases in general.
Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements.
Manage database security, create users and set appropriate permissions and monitors transaction activity and utilization.
May develop stored procedures and/or triggers.
Trouble-shoot poor performing stored procedures, tune database & query performance.
Support and perform ETL operations from various data sources.
Create & review databases and coordinate changes during deployment.
Provide support and guidance to Application Developers in creation of stored procedures and other database objects to ensure quality and high performance.
Formulates policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization.
Develop solutions to problems of unusual complexity which require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, and innovativeness. Challenges are frequently unique and solutions may serve as precedent for future decisions.
Serves as prime consultant and external spokesperson for the organization on highly significant matters relating to policies, programs, capabilities, and long-range goals and objectives
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
8 years of experience with data modeling, and experience with querying relational databases such as Oracle and SQL Server
Ability to respond effectively to changing events and competing priorities
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.
Experience trouble-shooting query performance.
Strong Knowledge of Agile and related tracking tools e.g. CA Agile Central
Knowledge of third party DBA tools and applications (e.g. Erwin, ER Studio)
Must be a US Citizen or a Green Card Holder
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
Knowledge of RI UHIP culture, mission, and IT environment.
Experience with CI/CD processes and DevSecOps
Strong interpersonal and consultative skills
Proven project planning experience
Development experience or knowledge in Extended Markup Language (XML).
Experience working in a government contracting environment
Some experience in reporting (SSRS, Crystal Reports or one of the other BI tools).
