Northrop Grumman is seeking a Database Administrator to become part of Northrop Grumman's organization supporting the Army Analytics Group's Research Facilitation Laboratory located in Monterey, California. The research team conducts a variety of studies and program evaluation efforts for clients across the Army, Office of the Secretary of Defense and greater DoD, conducting high-quality research with practical real-world implications. The research team works primarily within a data environment that houses a wealth of administrative, personnel, survey, and medical data (i.e., big data) on extremely large populations. Projects generally focus on resilience, health, and readiness among military service members, and include population-based studies, machine learning projects, measurement analysis, and pilot program evaluations.

The Database Administrator will:
- Maintain and ensure availability for multiple production and development databases
- Deploy and configure Oracle databases
- Test and perform upgrades to Oracle databases
- Conduct performance tuning of SQL, indexes, and databases in general
- Provide backup and recovery support and make recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements to the database environment
- Maintain security and integrity controls and formulate policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management
- Work closely with Cyber Security team to maintain compliance with DoD security requirements
- Create and maintain system documentation including procedures, policies, plans

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or related major and a minimum of 10 years experience in a systems operations position. Additional 4 years of applicable experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- Demonstrated competency in technical problem solving
- Experience administering Oracle Databases
- Experience performing database backups
- Experience hardening databases
- Must be detail oriented, highly organized, motivated, and a self-starter
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects, deadlines and responsibilities
- Excellent and well founded, written and oral communication skills are absolutely essential
- Ability to install, patch and troubleshoot Oracle Databases
- Experience with military/government
- Ability to hold a DoD Secret clearance (US Citizenship)

Preferred Qualifications:
- MS Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or related degree
- Current CompTIA Security+ Certification
- Experience administering highly available Oracle databases
- Experience with DoD security certification and accreditation is highly preferred
- Active DoD Secret Clearance
