Northrop Grumman's Enterprise Services organization is seeking a Data Engineer to supporting an exciting, cutting edge data analytics program. We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic person who is excited about taking on a variety of engineering challenges as we continue to push our data analytics capabilities forward.

This position can be hired as a Principal or Sr. Principal Data Analytics Engineer. Location can be Melbourne, FL; Falls Church, VA

Data Analytics Enablement Engineers are expected to analyze data challenges and business opportunities and develop requirements and specifications for implementation. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in the tools and processes around ETL and data visualization and a passion for identifying and answering questions that help us deliver the best service for our customers.

The role must be able to work independently under the direction of the Data Analytics Enablement Tools & Technology Manager, have strong communication skills and be able to interface with all levels of Enterprise Services personnel. The successful candidate will be able to grasp information quickly and probe when additional information is needed, all while operating in a virtual teaming environment.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications for the Principal Engineer

• 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD
• A strong passion for problem solving using empirical research to solve complex problems
• Experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches
• Previous Data Warehouse experience
• Experience manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from multiple sources / systems of record
• Experience with SQL Server Analysis Services, SQL Server Integration Services, and SQL Server Reporting Services
• Experience building and supporting multi-dimensional and tabular models
• Experience using Alteryx (both at local and server publication level)
• Experience using Tableau (both at local and server publication level)
• Understanding one or more of the following Programming Languages:
o Pig, SQL, Python, Spark, R
• Experience with Data Management strategy or process development (DMBOK, Data Architecture, Governance, MDM, Metadata, Data Quality)
• Understanding of Data Analytic Enablement tools and technology ecosystem and experience with / ability to program and develop in following tools:
o SQL, Alteryx, SSIS, and Tableau

• 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD
• A strong passion for problem solving using empirical research to solve complex problems
• Experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches
• Previous Data Warehouse experience
• Experience manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from multiple sources / systems of record
• Experience with SQL Server Analysis Services, SQL Server Integration Services, and SQL Server Reporting Services
• Experience building and supporting multi-dimensional and tabular models

Preferred Qualifications:

• Work closely with customers to understand and analyze data challenges and opportunities
• Work closely with customer to develop and implement data related solutions and models
• Understanding Schemas, Metadata, Ontologies, Models
• Drive the collection of new data and the refinement of existing data sources
• Develop and manage ETL workflows
• Develop and manage Enterprise grade visualizations and reports
• Have solid understanding of Data Warehouse and Data Warehouse optimization techniques
• Ability to communicate to various levels of management
• Basic understanding of SAFe Agile framework
