Cyber Systems Engineer 3 (Windows)

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Windows Systems Engineer 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Fairmont, WV.

Put your years of experience into a future of excellence... The Systems Engineer will become part of Northrop Grumman's biometric identification programs supporting the DoD and beyond. The ideal candidate will be a flexible and energetic individual in the Information Technology field. Must be able to work independently or as part of a team. Must have current vendor operating system certification and current DoD 8570.01M certification or must be willing to obtain one within 6 months of hire. Local and Domestic Travel may be required with the potential of future International Travel. Extended hours or On Call may be required. No funds have been allocated for relocation. All candidates must be in the Fairmont, WV commuting area or be willing to relocate at his/her expense. A full Top Secret Clearance will be required for unescorted access to DoJ Facilities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Performs design, technical planning, and implementation support for Windows based systems
  • Performs design, technical planning, and implementation support for VMware products
  • Implements systems in accordance with relevant Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG)
  • Coordinates design decisions and implementation plans with other engineering teams as appropriate
  • Supports development and test infrastructure in an administrative capacity
  • Creates and modifies engineering and other technical documents
  • Assists independent verification and validation efforts as appropriate
  • Leads and participates in integrated project teams
  • Assist in the development and implementation of disaster recovery plans
  • Performs trade studies
  • Translates requirements into hardware and software specifications



Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology or similar engineering or technical degree with a minimum of 5 years of hands on experience with Windows Server 2008 R2 or later including 3 years of hands on experience with Windows 7 or Windows 10. An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree
  • Experience deploying operating systems, application software, and updates using mass deployment technologies
  • Experience using Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and Microsoft System Center
  • Minimum of two years of experience with Microsoft Server 2012
  • Experience with creating and maintaining technical documentation
  • Experience with workstations and blade architectures
  • Must currently possess or meet the training certification requirements of at least DoD 8570.01 IAT Level appropriate for the position (Security CE, GSEC, CCNA-Security, SSCP, CISSP) or be willing and capable of obtaining within 6 months of hire and must maintain the appropriate levels of certification throughout employment
  • Must be eligible to obtain access to DoJ/FBI facilities
  • Must be a US Citizen with at least a current DoD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration: Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MSCE) or similar certification
  • Current Security , CISSP or similar certification
  • Experience deploying and patching Red Hat systems using Satellite
  • Experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) is strongly preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2012
  • Position prefers a candidate with a current Top Secret Clearance
