Cyber Software Engineer 5

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Cyber Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse research engineers located at a facility in Laurel, MD. The qualified applicant will serve as a Principal Software Engineer/Data Scientist for a Frameworks contract and become part of Northrop Grumman's Cyber Intelligence Mission Solutions Division - a market leader which innovates a culture of creativity, investment, and teamwork to solve the Intelligence Community's toughest problems.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • The candidate must have at least fifteen (15) years' experience performing software development/engineering, including requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution.
  • The individual must be able to communicate directions and provide guidance to junior programmer/analysts, as required.
  • This candidate will reside in a fast paced research and prototyping environment where cutting edge development solutions are expected of a small team of data scientists.
  • Development efforts will be focused on visualization capabilities of streaming/static cyber/SIGINT data.
  • Candidates will support Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality/Artificial Intelligence systems development.
  • The candidate Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
  • They will conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborates with data scientist engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
  • The candidate will determine computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
  • They will ensure software standards are met.
Basic:
  • At least fifteen (15) years in software development/engineering, including requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution.
  • The individual must be able to communicate directions and provide guidance to junior programmer/analysts, as required.
  • Experience in one of the following areas:
    • Visualization experience with streaming, static cyber, or SIGINT data.
    • Experience in software development efforts of artificial intelligence.
    • Experience in software development with Augmented Reality or Virtual Reality components.
  • At least eight (8) years developing software using the Java programming language.
  • At least six (6) years of this experience must have been obtained in the last eight (8) years.
  • At least six (6) years demonstrated experience developing software for Windows (2000, 2003, XP, Vista), UNIX and Linux (Redhat versions 3-5) operating systems.
  • At least two (2) years of this experience must have been obtained within the last four (4) years
  • Experience with JavaScript language.
  • Individual should be comfortable ripping apart and refactoring code.
  • Excellent communication and customer skills and ability to mentor junior data mathematicians.
  • Standard shift M-F is desired for this position.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field
  • Experience working in a research environment.
  • Experience with NiFi or other streaming tools.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional software engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.

Security Clearance: An active TS/SCIclearance with polygraph is required.
