Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Cyber Software Database Engineer 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals located in Northern Virginia.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Where potential candidates must have experience in designing, implementing and maintaining enterprise databases. Duties include: implementing and maintaining smooth operation and physical design of databases; conducting performance tuning of indexes and databases in general; reviewing database design and integration of systems; providing backup recovery and making recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements; maintaining security and integrity controls; formulating policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management; monitoring transaction activity and utilization; and developing stored procedures and/or triggers

Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or other related discipline and 5 years of overall database experience. An additional 4 years of related database experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Must be comfortable with either SQL and/or Oracle
  • Experience with one or more of the following: packages, procedures, triggers, functions and/or views.

Security Clearance: Active SECRET clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive Relational Database Experience (Oracle, MySQL, MariaDB, etc.)
  • Experience researching new technology for inclusion/use on customer programs
  • Experience contributing to open source applications
  • Experience with Scrum/Agile Software Development Methodology
  • Experience with Oracle Data partitioning and Oracle tuning on large databases
  • TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance (Active/Current)
