Northrop Grumman is seeking an experiencedContamination Control Engineer to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be located in Azusa, CA.

Candidate will be responsible for establishing contamination control on space programs that includes developing documentation and implementation plans that are consulted throughout the product cycle and delivery of the product. The individual will be responsible for monitoring, reviewing, facilitating and evaluating overall contamination control planning, implementation and verification. Knowledge and experience in establishing cleanroom requirements and solid understanding of vacuum science and contamination effects on system performance are required. Candidate must work well with a wide range of engineering teams, such as those in the manufacturing and test disciplines to identify contamination issues and develop appropriate contamination control measures to satisfy program requirements. Candidate is also expected to interface with cross-functional groups and subcontractors and provide status on environmental conditions and establish contamination control measures. Additional responsibilities that are commensurate with performance may be assigned depending on business needs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor'sdegree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in a production environment
  • Experience in developing and verifying that contamination budgets and requirements are met
  • Experienced at solving contamination problems encountered during fabrication, assembly, integration and test of hardware
  • Experience with molecular and particulate contamination sources, transport and deposition phenomena and analysis techniques (including experience with particle and molecular contamination sampling and monitoring techniques, contamination control and mitigation methods and post-delivery support protocols)
  • Familiarity with industry standard contamination control specifications (e.g. IEST-STD-CC1246, ISO-14644)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • Minimum of 7 years of engineering experience in a production environment
  • Training in Materials, Physics, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • Familiarity with standard testing techniques (e.g.: ASTM E-595, ASTM-E-1559, ASTM-E-1216, ASTM-E-1235)
  • Familiarity with simulation tools such as OpenFOAM and COMSOL Multiphysics
  • Ability to analyze quartz crystal microbalance and residual gas analyzer data
  • Familiarity with numerical analysis software such as Matlab or Python
  • Extensive experience with space equipment in assembly, integration and test with stringent contamination requirements
  • Active Secret Clearance, ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance
