Computer Systems Analyst

Northrop Grumman Information Systems sector is seeking a Computer Systems Analyst to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Woodlawn, MD. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Health Systems Management operating unit which focuses on Healthcare IT solutions for our Federal, State, and Local government clients.
The Computer Systems Analyst will provide support for Section 508 compliance in the area of Section 508 compliance testing, remediation, and code inspection. The analyst will conduct Section 508 compliance activities following recognized practices and interact directly with the customer.

Job duties:
Conduct testing to ensure compliance with Section 508 for:

  • Web and client/server applications including SQL, HTML, XML, AJAX, JAVA, JavaScript, WebSphere, Cold Fusion, Oracle/Hyperion and applications developed in other environments
  • Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power Point, and Adobe Acrobat documents
  • Adobe Acrobat read only and fillable electronic forms, as well as forms in other electronic formats
  • Alternative formats to electronic documents, including accessible electronic text, HTML, Audio, Braille, Large Print, and other alternative formats

Assist SSA in providing training to SSA employees on how to test Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Power Point, and Adobe Acrobat documents for accessibility

Assist SSA in providing training to SSA employees on how to design and test applications and websites for accessibility

Implement and maintain an API called automated 508 test tool (with custom rules) for projects in DevOps environments (Modern Development Environment or MDE)

Provide Section 508 Program expert level analysis and technical recommendations

Work with SSA to identify JAWS compatibility issues
Analyze, find root cause, document JAWS compatibility issues, and then document recommended approach to remediation
Work with SSA to prioritize JAWS compatibility issues
Work with JAWS vendor to make code modification in the current build of JAWS for commercial release
Work with JAWS vendor to provide access to SSA of pre-production versions for validation
Establish regular cadence for joint product engineering sessions and advancement of Assistive Technology (AT) to support developers as well as end users of technology
Facilitate joint design sessions with JAWS product team to identify future design strategies compatible with WC3 specifications, standards, and the Section 508 standards

Basic Qualifications:
This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below. This requisition may be filled at either a Level 3 or a Level 4.

Basic Qualifications for Section 508 Tester / CSA3:
Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant work experience, Master's Degree and 3 years of relevant work experience in Section 508 Compliance testing and remediation.
  • 4+ years experience conducting testing using various ATs to ensure compliance with Section 508.
  • 3+ years experience conducting code inspection for the required accessibility properties.
  • 3+ years direct experience with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery and jQuery UI.
  • 1+ years experience in providing training on how to design and test applications and websites for accessibility
  • Must be able to obtain a Position of Trust designation
  • Must be a US Citizen or a Green Card Holder

Basic Qualifications for Section 508 Tester / CSA4:
Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant work experience, Master's Degree and 7 years relevant work experience
  • 6+ years experience conducting testing using various ATs to ensure compliance with Section 508.
  • 5+ years experience conducting code inspection for the required accessibility properties.
  • 5+ years direct experience with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery and jQuery UI.
  • 3+ years experience in providing training on how to design and test applications and websites for accessibility
  • Must be able to obtain a Position of Trust designation
  • Must be a US Citizen or a Green Card Holder


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the Agile/Scrum methodology.
  • Experience with node.js, AngularJS and Bootstrap.
  • Prior experience supporting government agencies.
