Components: Parts Control Engineer 3/4

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Parts Control Engineer 3/4. This position will be located at our Mission Systems Sector in Baltimore, MD.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Parts Management Group within the Engineering Design Services Department. The selected candidate will work in a dynamic, customer-focused environment where he/she will interact with suppliers, internal and external customers and other design engineers.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Working with individual programs to ensure and manage the flow down of customer and derived application requirements.
  • Creation and implementation of Parts Management Plans (PMP).
  • Conduct detailed part investigations and data development efforts to prepare all data necessary for Parts Materials and Process Control Board (PMPCB) review including generation/review of applicable screening and qualification test plans.
  • Participate in/manage PMPCB.
  • Create and manage Program Part Selection Lists (PPSL).
  • Bill of Material (BOM) analysis.
  • Creation and review of internal and subcontractor non-standard part approval requests (NSPAR).
  • Review and disposition of Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA) reports and Failure Analyses reports.
  • Manage the flow of new parts and documentation.
  • Provide program interface for the Components Engineering (CE) Commodity Specialists/Parts Engineers.
  • Utilize project management skills to manage multiple priorities and utilize cross-functional groups to effectively meet part requirements and program deadlines.

This position is a Dual band position. Candidates will be considered at both a level 3 and level 4 based upon the Basic Qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications for a Band 3:

  • Successful Completion of a STEM Degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD) from an accredited institution
  • Have minimal 5 years professional work experience in an Engineering or Electrical Parts related field
  • Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)

Basic Qualifications for a Band 4:

  • Successful Completion of a STEM Degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD) from an accredited institution
  • Have minimal 9 years professional work experience in an Engineering or Electrical Parts related field
  • Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities
  • Good presentation and writing/communication skills
  • Self-motivated, willing to learn, and interested in working in a team environment
  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations, leading small groups, etc.
  • Experience in working on failure analysis of electronic components
  • Experience in performing laboratory work on electronic components
  • Experience in commercial, high reliability space development or production programs
  • Experience in developing Electronic Part specifications, particularly using military or NASA requirements and specifications.
