Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Chief Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in San Diego, CA.

This position will report directly to the Triton Chief Engineer and is responsible for supporting the Tritons Sustainment contract program manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Supporting the preparation and execution of the Triton IFC 3.1 Early Operational Capability, providing technical engineering oversight for system hardware and software upgrades during EOC.
  • Supporting Anomaly resolution and performance trending of triton EOC System components.
  • Coordinating DMS issues with program Production and Logistics activities.
  • Supporting the preparations for IFC 4 MultiINTEOC and eventually the sustainment planning and execution activities for international variants.
  • Positionrequires travelup to 25% of the time.
  • The definitive technical authority for all aspects of engineering on all program elements (hardware/software/support/test) and leads a multi disciplined engineering team managing the technical performance of the program meeting cost and schedule requirements including subcontracted elements. Coordinates requirements development, hardware/software design, verification, and validation activities.
  • Ensures that the program is adhering to sound engineering processes in the development, production, test and sustainment of products for our customers and is compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Maintains cognizance over technical activities within program IPTs and ensures horizontal integration of the best engineering practices across the company.
  • Continually coordinates with the systems engineering and program integration team (PIT) leader to ensure the execution of program statement of work and baselines and serves as the technical point of contact with the customer.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university
  • Must have at least 9 years of experience in Engineering or 7 years of experience and a Master's Degree or 4 years of experience and a PHD.
  • Experienced in systems or subsystems engineering for a unmanned air vehicle system
  • Hands on experience working integration and test, or flight test portion of an air vehicle system
  • An active in-scope DoD Secret Clearance
  • The ability to obtain program access
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • Technical Operations or Sustainment support to fleet or other flight operations in a civilian or military capacity.
  • Mission Knowledge of ISR systems and data products. SCI Security Clearance.
  • Excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
  • Active, In scope DoD Top Secret or SCI clearance
