Northrop Grumman Technology Services sector is seeking a Chief Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Woodlawn, MD.

The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Health Solutions portfolio providing technical research and analytics related to systems architecture and design to facilitate program development, testing, transition and sustainment to operations. Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Designs and defines enterprise architecture strategies for new or existing complex computer systems.
  • Addresses system specifications, input/output processes, parameters for hardware/software compatibility, solution security, and coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves program support deficiencies, and develops and recommends corrective actions.
  • May provide technical guidance for database administrators and software developers.
  • Researches, designs, develops, and/or modifies enterprise-wide solutions in support of systems and/or applications software engineering.
  • Works with customer, users, and other contractors to understand and document requirements, delivery schedules, metrics reporting, and other stakeholder expectations.
  • Coordinates with Software and Systems Engineers as well as Production Operations Administrators to assess impact to technical solutions.
  • Facilitates projects through their normal life-cycle, from initiation to closure, using sound systems architecture disciplines such as SOA.
  • Provides clear qualitative and quantitative information to teams and stakeholders.
  • Adds to and sustains the Technical Risk and Opportunity Register.
  • Write proposals responses and statements of work.

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below. This requisition may be filled at either a Level IV or a Level III

Basic Qualifications for the Chief Architect Level IV are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Systems Architecture, Software Engineering or related field and 9 years of IT related experience; or Master's degree and 7 years of IT related experience; or PhD and 4 years of IT related experience; or 13 years of IT related experience in lieu of degree
  • 6 years or more of experience in computer systems architecture, working on programs worth $5M/year or more
  • 3 years or more of systems engineering or application architecture experience across a variety of platforms
  • 2 years of experience with design tools
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills demonstrated through each of the following must have requirements:

o Experience presenting technical data, designs, and architectures to high level management through presentations Microsoft PowerPoint.

o Experience writing technical white papers, design documents, and other technical documents to be presented to the customer.

o Experience developing and leading Technical Volume of Response for Proposals (RFPs).

o Experience developing technical statements of works (SOWs) for subcontracts.

o Ability to professionally communicate technical information effectively to management, peers and customers as well as demonstrate sound judgment/reasoning skills.

  • Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Position of Trust designation.

Basic Qualifications for the Chief Architect Level V are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Systems Architecture, Software Engineering or related field and 14 years of IT related experience; or Master's degree and 12 years of IT related experience; or PhD and 9 years of IT related experience; or 18 years of IT related experience in lieu of degree
  • 8 years or more of experience in computer systems architecture, working on programs worth $5M/year or more
  • 5 years or more of systems engineering or application architecture experience across a variety of platforms
  • 2 years of experience with design tools
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills demonstrated through each of the following must have requirements:

o Experience presenting technical data, designs, and architectures to high level management through presentations Microsoft PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) or more years of government contract project management experience.
  • Knowledge of Cyber Security and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse business.
  • Knowledge of Visio or Sparx Enterprise Architect.
