This position will work on program and proposal needs. The candidate selected will support technical execution and proposal preparation on significant new capability programs. This position will work an average of 20 hours per week and not have a set schedule. The role is paid a flat hourly rate and does not include benefits.
What You'll Get To Do:
The Casual Technical Professional is responsible for supporting the engineering team in all program aspects including design, development, implementation, integration, testing, and delivery of product to the customer. In addition, the Casual Technical Professional will support proposal development and preparation for related underwater system opportunities.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Support System Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) development for major new torpedo system
Support requirement database creation, tracking, and verification plan definition
Support Automated Test Equipment (ATE) validation and safety certification for supplier test sets
Evaluate subcontractor plans and support SEMP execution
Support NG portfolio expansion to other undersea systems
Support technical content preparation for system design reviews, including entrance and exit criteria development, content generation, and post-review closeout. Review types include System Requirements Review (SRR), System Functional Review (SFR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), System Verification Review (SVR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), Physical Configuration Audit (PCA) Review, and Production Readiness Review (PRR).
Provide input into the overall technical plan within the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
Ensure the program adheres to sound engineering processes in development, production, test, and sustainment in accordance with company policies, processes, and quality standards.
Recommend process development, continuous improvement, and affordability initiatives within their associated programs.
Support the program manager in risk and opportunity management by identifying risks, risk mitigation plans, and opportunities associated with system performance.

Lead or support the responses to proposal solicitations, including architecture definition, BOE generation, and written volume creation. As needed, articulate and execute proposal solicitations to potential subcontractors.
Perform any program specific responsibilities allocated to the role by the engineering functional and program management.
Basic Qualifications:
Domain expertise in torpedo and related underwater weapon systems
A Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field with 14 years of experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM-related field with 12 years of experience, or a PhD in a STEM-related field with 10 years of directly-applicable experience . An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
5+ years of experience leading technical teams from PDR through LRIP
Demonstrated technical leadership skills, decisiveness, and ability to make sound technical judgments with limited information
1+ year of experience leading proposal responses and solicitations
Willingness to travel, as required, in support of program/proposal needs
U.S. Citizenship is required and able to acquire/renew a Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in STEM or technical management
Exceptional communication skills
An interest in and an aptitude for customer engagements at technical and programmatic levels
Understanding of DoD systems engineering requirements
Experience coordinating directly with customers and end users for requirements development and detailed design
* Experience coordinating with external subcontractors and suppliers
Primary Level Salary Range: $150,000.00 - $250,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
