Roles and Responsibilities:

The qualified applicant should be able to perform data analysis of health surveys with complex design and other data sets using SAS survey procedures, STATA, or SAS-callable SUDAAN for general team support: Perform data quality assurance activities, including identifying and resolving any inconsistencies in data flow,data outside legitimate ranges, and illogical data responses by developing data quality reports and investigation and resolution of data anomalies or errors by using a combination of software packages including SAS, MS Access and Excel, and other software as warranted; Prepare computer programs for epidemiological data analysis; Statistical analysis of health surveys with complex statistical design; Provide data analysis plans for analysis of large data sets, including techniques for linking datasets from diverse sources, and knowledge of weighting of data when required; Apply appropriate statistical methodologies used in the health sciences (e.g. multivariate modeling techniques such as linear regression, logistic regression, generalized linear models, and survival analysis); Provide written documentation and summary of methods used; Review and offer edits to methods and results sections of manuscripts, as requested. Produce output in the form of tables and graphs suitable for submission for publication, as requested; Support data collection projects utilizing sample survey and studies that encompass a wide range of advanced topics including statistical methods, research, and study design; Support the demography, statistics, survey research, and sociology in the design and development of research and evaluation studies related to both international and domestic activities.Contributes to research and analysis of public health disciplines to support the deliverables of assigned tasks. Gathers and analyzes content data obtained through primary or secondary research methodologies. Evaluates and/or validates content data and makes reommendations to project team or program staff in support of research and/or training efforts. Participates in the design and implementation of the evaluation techniques, such as questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, surveys, data gathering instruments, etc. Conducts literature review and evaluates content of data. Maintains collection of research data through databases and other repository means.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Public Health, Mathematics, Statistics, or Biostatistics, or related field with a minimum of 9 years of related experience.

3 years of experience with statistical analysis of complex surveillance data using SAS-callable SUDAAN, STATA or SAS survey procedures.

3 years of experience with data management of large datasets, analysis of large data sets, including techniques for merging datasets from diverse sources, and knowledge of weighting of data.

3 years of experience with established statistical methodologies in the health sciences, particularly those related to chronic disease and behavioral-based surveillance and data analysis.

Documented scientific writing and communications skills

Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills

Ability to communicate effectively with public health scientists and program staff on mathematical and statistical topics

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Public Health, Mathematics, Statistics, Biostatistics, or related field with a minimum of 4 years of related experience.

Previous CDC, NIH, and or Public Health Experience
