Avionics and Tactical Networks (ATN) is an operating unit within the Mission Systems sector of Northrop Grumman. ATN is located at our Spectrum facility in San Diego, California. We deliver complex equipment to enable modern battlefields and support aviation missions. Our focus is on the world of avionics, radio and electronic warfare product applications to enable networked communications.

As part of the corporation's business focus area on Communications, we are the equipment providers. Our team of communication systems experts is developing next-generation ground radios for land forces, and our Electronic Warfare subject matter experts are creating the next generation of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) countermeasures to keep our soldiers safe when in harm's way.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/ or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies such as modules, boards, panels, drawers, frames, and cables.
  • Works from diagrams and drawings, makes initial layouts, and uses hand and/or power tools, jigs, and saws.
  • Makes continuity checks on work in process and completed.
  • May conduct quality inspections on processing line in accordance with quality specifications.
  • May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have a High School Diploma
  • Must have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance which requires US citizenship.
  • Knowledge of techniques, approaches, guidelines, policies and procedures in the job area.
  • Must be mechanically inclined and have experience/exposure/interest in mechanical functions.
  • Must be able to perform assembly techniques in order to make modifications, reworks and assemblies.
  • Ability to perform basic problem solving techniques which are fully defined and available through the supervisor, coworkers and written materials.
  • Must possess basic, verbal and written communication skills for minimal interaction with others.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Filter assemblies and/or current J-STD-001 certification.
  • Prior experience in the Defense industry.
  • Prior experience within a manufacturing function.
