TheSystems EngineeringIntegrationand Testteam at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as an Airworthiness Engineer 3 based out of San Diego, CA.

What You'll get to Do:

Performs technical airworthiness planning and show compliance support, including development and negotiation of airworthiness plans, certification basis, methods of show compliance, and flight authorization activities for total systems with customer counterparts in support of Northrop Grumman Corporation's Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) Payload Maintenance Program.

Job Duties: Review and coordinate airworthiness requirements and show compliance artifacts with other internal engineering disciplines at all levels of total system to include: design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Performs functional and process analyses, requirements allocation and definition studies to translate customer requirements into Certification basis for either or both civil and military certifications. Ensures the logical and systematic realization of customer airworthiness requirements into system solutions to meet program objectives (e.g. Flight releases, Type certification, and continued airworthiness). Writes Airworthiness documents to include Airworthiness Certification Plans, Criteria Verification Forms, proposal volumes, technical studies, status slides and status reports for management.

To be successful in the position requires engineering and aircraft design and certification knowledge, with the ability to read and understand engineering artifacts (e.g. drawings, requirements, design reviews, and engineering analysis documents). Additional tasking includes assisting the AW manager with financial planning, scheduling and writing basis of estimates for proposals.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math, or Aviation Sciences or other technical areas and a minimum of 5 years related experience.
  • Experience: aviation certification with Bachelor's Degree, 10 years FAA or USAF certification
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
  • Knowledge and experience with MIL-HDBK-516C certification basis development (military designs)
  • Knowledge and experience with civil Part 23, 25, 27, 29 certification basis development (civil designs)

  • Degree in Aviation or Aeronautical Engineering discipline
