Aircraft Structures Mechanic 3

Performs a variety of Airframe Structural Operations; such as locating parts, drilling various types of metals and composite materials, and installing various types of fasteners per drawing and process specifications. Requires knowledge of various types of cutting tools (drills/reamers/etc.) and drill speed/feed rates. Requires proficiency in interpreting Engineering drawings, process specifications, and Engineering standards, as well as following planned procedures to correctly locate parts and produce close tolerance hole dimensions. Aligns parts on fixtures, uses template to perform locating, drilling operations, trimming, deburring, and fastener installation. Requires detailed understanding of match drilling full sized existing holes in fracture critical structures into new blank structure by using drill bars, bushings and other drilling aids. Measures parts with micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools to verify dimensions. May modify structural assemblies/subassemblies to incorporate changes. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Requires adherence to shop floor policies and procedures, to include FOE and tool control.

Basic Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent (GED) and 4 years relative airframe experience. The position requires an active DoD Secret level security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

6 years relative airframe experience.
