Aircraft Conceptual Configuration Engineer

This position will primarily work with vehicle design and technologies studies in the area of aircraft configuration integration, aircraft sizing, weapons integration and propulsion integration. Other similar aircraft configuration work may also be supported, including tasks that will require a Secret or Top Secret Clearance. Perform aircraft configuration design tasks including: modeling aircraft in CAD (Prefer NX, Catia a plus), CAD surfacing from preliminary to production Loft quality, coming up with innovative integration options for the design of new aircraft, understanding of the MDAO process and parametric models, performing calculations using other estimation tools and coordinating with other disciplines.

Aircraft Integration Configuration Engineer

In this role the, the candidate will be part of a dynamic team supporting configuration and integration trades studies for overall air vehicle design. This will include preparation of preliminary layout, general arrangement and inboard profile definition for payloads integration on to military aircraft. This will include zone configuration & zone management in a fast paced concurrent engineering environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with 3D Model Based Engineering to include use of 3D Digital Mock-Up tool suites for communication and documentation within a collaborative IPT environment. The candidate may support other configuration integration activities, including: air vehicle sizing studies and quality lofting of OML surfaces and ducts, surfacing for CFD and CEM as well as wind tunnel models.

Successful candidates will be self-starting engineers able to perform duties without appreciable direction, or only under consulted direction toward long-range goals, capable of mentoring junior engineers, developing estimates & schedules, leading ground based development test efforts, and leading technical teams engaged in above activities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field from an accredited University
  • 6 years of direct experience in an industry related field
  • U.S. citizenship is required
  • Ability to attain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Security Clearance
  • Proficiency with MS Office software (Excel, Work, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A current in scope DoD Secret, Top Secret or SSBI/SCI clearance
  • Siemens NX proficient
  • Broad general knowledge of air vehicle design and manufacturing techniques
