Northrop Grumman is seeking an Intern EHS Engineer to join the Innovation Sector Intern Program. This position will be located in Promontory, Utah
The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman's Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Department at our Promontory facility.
The selected candidate will work in an Industrial manufacturing environment combined with office work.
As an intern, you'll participate in a summer internship program to develop competencies in a variety of Safety and Industrial Hygiene engineering specializations that may include:
Roles and Responsibilities
Successful candidate will perform Industrial Hygiene assessments, safety audits, and ensure compliance to procedures.
Position includes working with energetic materials and the fabrication and assembly of energetic articles.
Candidate will be required to review and document Safety Data Sheets, enter assessments into databases, and audit processes for compliance to procedural requirements.
Skills needed for success include a positive attitude, the ability to work with others at all levels of the organization , an Energetic personality with people skills to understand the issues and communicate solutions with operators, a strong desire and willingness to learn new skills, and the ability to see inefficiencies and make improvements to reduce waste. Job function requires the use of standard computer skills.
Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND graduating after August 2020.
Be majoring in Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Occupational Safety, Occupational Health, Safety Engineering
Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher (unofficial academic transcripts must be provided at time of application by uploading the documents to your application or profile)
Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2020
Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher
Good presentation and writing/communication skills.
Self-motivated, willing to learn, and interested in working in a team environment.
Experience in developing and delivering presentations and leading small groups.
