Senior Fabrication Manager

Job Summary

The Senior Fabrication Manager is responsible for managing the overall activities for a fabrication facility supplying one or more production lines. This position receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides management direction of all phases of engineering and production from manufacturing introduction to completion.
  • Functions as the central resource with manufacturing, test and engineering as parts and subassemblies move to completion.
  • Responsible for production schedules, and applies performance standards for measuring progress.
  • Develops manufacturing plans and routings through; machining, powder coating, sheet metal and welding cells.
  • Monitors daily performance and identifies and resolves problems related to scheduling, personnel and quality.
  • Confirms that parts and subassemblies shipped meet specifications, trade compliance and quality goals.
  • Certifies the security and accountability of materials and goods with inventory control.
  • Ensures materials are available to meet production schedules and/or products are shipped as per marketing schedules.
  • Establishes and modifies operational methods and procedures.
  • Maintains documentation to reflect the effectiveness and efficiency of department activities.
  • Establishes and recommends changes to policies which affect subordinate organization(s).
  • Frequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, customers and/or functional peer group managers. Interactions normally involve matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company.
  • Manages through subordinate supervisors, the coordination of the activities of a department with responsibility for results, including costs, methods and staffing.
  • Selects, develops and evaluates personnel.
  • Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of company policies.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree an Engineering discipline. An equivalent of education and experience may be combined in lieu of a degree.
  • 5 - 10 years of management experience, specifically in a fabrication environment.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to manage a diverse team
  • Knowledge/prior use of SAP or other ERP system.
  • Experience applying lean principles to a fabrication facility ie; Kanban, 5s etc.
