Regional Sales Manager

Job Summary

Maximize sales potential and ensure complete customer satisfaction within assigned region. Provide management oversight for all projects, accounts, and employees. Region encompasses Western PA, West Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, & Illinois (Chicagoland). This position will be based remotely preferably in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Indianapolis or Detroit.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures that regional sales results are equal to or exceed the annual sales budget
  • Assumes direct control over exceptional problem issues
  • Demonstrates ability to interact and cooperate with all company employees
  • Provides management oversight to all other high valued sales opportunities and key accounts within region
  • Ensures that Nordson assets assigned to the region are adequately protected and utilized to their full potential
  • Operates within designated expense budget and assists Senior Manager in establishing both sales and expense needs
  • Prepares and submits needed sales, service and administrative reports plus other needed paperwork on a timely basis
  • Delegate authority and responsibility with accountability and follow-up
  • Provides stewardship management supervision over employees within the assigned region
  • Develops skills and expertise of subordinates through oversight management, situation training, coaching and by leadership or “role model” example
  • Coaches the development and implementation of sales strategies throughout entire sales and service cycle
  • Conducts one-on-one review with all sales representatives to build more effective communications, to understand training and development needs, and to provide insight for the improvement of sales representatives’ sales and activity performance
  • Conducts regular coaching and counseling with sales representatives to build motivation and selling skills
  • Ensures that all sales representatives meet or exceed all activity standards for prospecting calls, appointments, presentations, proposals and closes
  • Sets examples for sales representatives in areas of personal character, commitment, organizational and selling skills, and work habits
  • Prepares action plans by individuals as well as by team for effective search of sales leads and prospects
  • Maintains contact with all key customers in the market area to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Keeps abreast of competitive intelligence and allied vendor activities including adhesives, materials, and equipment
  • Maintains detailed customer, account activity and other territory records appropriate for Region and Division needs
  • Maintains detailed and current knowledge of Nordson products, pricing, and sales related policies and procedures
  • Maintains current knowledge of applications and materials information in both packaging and product assembly markets
  • Advises Division management of products or service improvements needed for market and for customer satisfaction
  • Maintains an appropriate personal appearance and professional business standard as a representative of Nordson Corporation
  • Other job related duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business or engineering related field required
  • At least 3 years of related experience required

Skills and Abilities

  • Highly effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to provide leadership and management for projects or to employees sharing a common goal
  • Effective with administrative issues, detail-orientated, and well developed organizational skills
  • Basic understanding of computers and business software
  • Broad knowledge of Nordson products, applications, and markets or closely related industry knowledge
  • Creative thinking and effective in problem solving
  • Well-developed ability to present ideas, sell concepts and persuade
