WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH
This position is responsible for supporting the future innovation needs for Underfoot Systems.
The focus is on performance cushioning systems, not exclusively airsoles. You will also work with the AirMI teams to implement component level knowledge, innovation footwear development teams to create new system integration methods, and inline sport development and engineering teams to implement these systems at scale.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
As a Sr. Cushioning Engineer, you will develop new performance based cushioning systems that result in growth opportunities and competitive advantages in the marketplace by collaborating with cross functional teams. Through collaboration with designers, researchers, developers and other engineers you will contribute to the performance, aesthetic and manufacturability of new innovations. You will use concept sketches, 3D design software, prototyping skills, engineering knowledge, and hands on experience to design, refine and carefully document part and tool designs. You will demonstrate strong problem solving skills through an ability to deliver multiple innovative solutions to complex problems. We expect this person to be an expert design engineer who can ideate, innovate and manage the development of complex cushioning systems through collaboration in a fast-paced environment. - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training
- A minimum of 5 years directly relevant work experience
- Highly proficient in parametric CAD software. NX and Rhino experience preferred
- Proficiency in algorithmic/computational design (Grasshopper) is desirable
- A demonstrated portfolio of work, with clear examples of engineering designs and problem solving ability
- Knowledge of plastic or foam part and tooling design
- Excellent multi-tasking and organization skills
- Some lifting of tooling, parts and various equipment (up to 50lb)
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally on occasion
WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
If this is you, you'll be working with cross-functional teams, including developers, designers, and many other experts to help design and build cushioning systems. Your role is to utilize CAD and computational engineering tools, to build out the cushioning systems of the future. As part of a team, you will have the opportunity to communicate and interpret highly technical information to a diverse audience, whether within or outside of the project team. - Demonstrated passion for advanced innovation, product creation and manufacturing.
- Advanced 3D parametric modeling skills allowing you to utilize software tools (NX) to manipulate and perfect complex surfaces.

- Ability to apply athletic knowledge and insights in creating new cushioning components
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical topics to diverse audiences and at all levels within the organization
- Strong analytical thinker with excellent problem solving skills

- Ability to work with and influence cross functional teams
- Knowledge of Nike product creation process a plus
- Knowledge of shoe making a plus
