Senior Architect - Nike Digital Engineering

Scope and Responsibilities:

As an Architect with Nike's Digital Architecture team, you will be responsible for the design, evaluation, and evolution of architectures for global enterprise scale consumer-facing e-commerce applications in an agile delivery environment.
We are seeking a high-performing Architect to develop and promote best practices for creating Web and mobile applications in the cloud. In this role, you will be responsible for coaching developers to continuously elevate their engineering skills to deliver innovative and high-quality services that enable our cloud teams to build capabilities in a consistent, maintainable, and highly scalable manner. You'll lead by example, evangelize our agile culture, and be an advocate of new technology and development techniques. The successful candidate is a proven engineering leader with excellent communication and relationship-building skills in addition to current, hands-on coding skills.

You'll be a key member of our team with the following responsibilities:
• Facilitate designs and build solutions across Nike Digital Engineering. Solutions are built in a highly collaborative environment, partnering with engineering, product, and program leaders
• Contribute a leading perspective on specific or emerging technologies in highly-available, globally-scaled consumer web properties
• Provide clear leadership in developing applications for a global audience
• Lead the evaluation, implementation, and design methodologies for globally-scalable web architectures and products
• Work on the most complex projects and contribute to the overall strategic vision of the organization
• Evaluate, design, and document established technical protocols and standards for Nike Digital Engineering use
• Provide thought leadership on a wide variety of complex issues having a significant and strategic impact on the business
• Lead and influence teams to follow NDe development principles


Qualifications

• 8 years software development experience
• 2 years acting in an architecture or lead role
• Excellent skills building positive customer relationships
• Demonstrated experience in building cloud-based enterprise systems in AWS or other cloud technologies
• Experience in NoSQL data stores, such as DynamoDB, Cassandra, or similar technologies.
• Prior experience in designing and implementing highly scalable web applications
• Diverse and deep experience in micro service architecture, domain driven design, and RESTful Services using languages such as Java, Node, or Scala
• Experience with continuous integration, unit testing, static analysis, and automated integration tests. Continuous delivery experience preferred
• Working knowledge of Scrum and agile principles
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
• Commitment to and hands-on experience in performing technical code reviews
• Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence your peers
• Demonstrate a excellent ability to learn new information and systems quickly, work successfully in a highly matrixed organization and forge partnerships with peers, customers, and suppliers.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or other relevant subject area. 2 years additional relevant professional experience accepted in lieu of degree
